Hiawatha sits in the high desert landscape of northwestern Moffat County, just south of the Wyoming border. This 2019 survey captures a remote portion of the Colorado plateau characterized by deep drainages and intermittent watercourses. The drainage of Shell Creek meanders through the central terrain, while the sharp relief of Hells Canyon cuts through the northern sections, illustrating the complex topography of the region.
