Glacial topography and waterfront development define this Oakland County landscape in the late 1960s. The White Lake and Duck Lake systems are heavily subdivided, notably at the Seven Harbors community, where fingers of land extend into the water. To the south, the Highland State Recreation Area preserves a more natural terrain of hills and potholes around Haven Hill Lake and Teeple Lake.

Logistics and recreation intersect throughout the quadrangle, from the Chesapeake and Ohio railroad corridor passing through Clyde to the Ski Lifts and Alpine Ski Club near McWithy Lake.
