Garfield Mesa defines the northern reaches of this Colorado landscape, transitioning southward into the complex drainage networks of the Grand Valley. The 2013 geography centers on the critical water management infrastructure of the High Desert, most notably Highline Lake and the Upper Highline Reservoir. These bodies of water, along with the Government Highline Canal, illustrate the engineering required to sustain the settlement at Mack Mesa and the surrounding agricultural operations.
