Hudsonville sits along the northern edge of this North Mississippi landscape, where the headwaters of several critical drainages converge. The territory is defined by the expansive Holly Springs National Forest, which blankets much of the central and southern portions of the quadrangle. Water dominates the physical geography, with the Coldwater River winding through the northwest, while Big Snow Cr and Little Snow Cr cut through the forest toward Little Snow Lake. This 2018 survey reveals a patchwork of rural land use, from the aviation activity at Nichol Airpark to the numerous burial grounds that speak to the area's long-standing community ties. Researchers will find several family and church cemeteries preserved here, including the Governor Matthews Cem and Chestnut Grove Cem, connected by a network of historic routes like Old C C C Rd and Powell Chapel Rd.
