The industrial legacy of the late 19th-century coal boom is etched across this landscape, centered on the remains of the Cokedale (Aban'd) mining complex. While the community was largely quiet by the mid-20th century, the 1951 survey records extensive features of the abandoned operation, including the Cokedale Mines No 1 (Aban'd), Cokedale Mines No 2 (Aban'd), and rows of Coke Ovens (Aban'd) along Eldridge Creek. These mining remains sit south of the Burlington Northern railroad corridor, which parallels the path of Billman Creek through the valley.
