About this map

The Humboldt River corridor dominates the southern portion of this Elko County landscape, serving as a vital artery for transport and ranching. The small settlement of Hunter is positioned near the confluence where the S Fork Humboldt River meets the main channel, a critical junction in this arid basin. Much of the northern terrain is defined by the high elevations of the Adobe Range, which is dissected by a network of drainage systems including Susie Cr, Middle Susie Cr, and Dry Susie Cr. These seasonal watercourses and features like Upper Dry Susie Spring indicate the localized importance of water sources in the high desert. Along the river valley, an Interpretive Center and infrastructure such as Maggie Creek Ranch Rd reflect the area's contemporary land use and historical transit importance.
