1964 Map of Huron

About this map

Meacham and the small settlement of Huron occupy the northern reaches of this mid-1960s survey, situated along the vital Union Pacific Railroad corridor. The landscape is defined by the sharp transition between the Umatilla National Forest and the Wallowa Whitman National Forest, where the terrain drops precipitously into Short Canyon and the winding course of Meacham Creek. A significant industrial landmark, the California Pipeline, cuts a diagonal path across the rugged topography, intersecting the railroad near Dry Railroad Canyon.
