Chichagof Island serves as the backdrop for this recent survey of the Southeast Alaskan panhandle, dominated by the heavily timbered expanses of the Tongass National Forest. The coastline is defined by the sheltered waters of Whitestone Harbor, which provides a natural anchor point for this maritime landscape. Inland, the terrain is marked by a network of drainage systems including Suntaheen Cr and Iyouktug Cr, which carve through the dense forest from the heights of Hippo Back.
