Eagle Glacier and Herbert Glacier dominate this 1980s landscape, their massive icy tongues feeding a network of glacial rivers within the Tongass National Forest. The Eagle River and Herbert River carve wide, braided channels through the terrain as they flow toward Eagle Harbor and the Tidal Flat. This provisional survey captures the transition from high-alpine ice fields to the coastal drainage systems of Southeast Alaska during a period of active mapping.

Evidence of human activity is concentrated in the lowland basins and along drainage routes. A lone Gravel Pit near the river fork suggests localized resource extraction, while a network of named streams like Canyon Creek, Montana Creek, and South Fork Cowee Creek define the navigation of Yankee Basin. To the south, Windfall Lake and its tributary Windfall Creek offer a contrast to the high-volume glacial outflows, representing a more sheltered catchment area within the national forest boundary.
