The coastal wilderness of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge meets the southern reaches of the Aleutian Range in this modern survey of the Kenai Peninsula. The landscape is defined by the drainage systems of the Crescent River and Polly Creek, which cut through the protected terrain of Lake Clark National Park before emptying into the Gulf of Alaska.

The mapping shows a transition from the high, ridged contours of the inland mountains to the extensive coastal wetlands and tidal flats that front the Pacific Ocean. Numerous small tributaries, including Polly Cr and Little Polly Creek, create a complex hydrologic network across the low-lying plains. This 2017 edition represents the ongoing efforts by the U.S. Geological Survey to document these evolving shoreline and glacial-melt environments with high-precision topography.
