Woodstock and Kennesaw anchor the landscape of northern Cobb and southern Cherokee counties during a period of transition toward suburban growth. The northern edge of the map is defined by the newly formed Allatoona Lake and the winding course of Noonday Creek. The region’s rural foundations are evident in the density of country churches and schools, such as Bascomb Ch, Oak Grove Sch, and Mt Zion Ch.

Industrial and transportation corridors are dominated by the Louisville and Nashville RR and the Nashville and St Louis RR, which helped shape the development of local hubs like Blackwells. While much of the land remains agricultural or wooded, purple photorevisions from the late 1960s and early 1970s reveal emerging subdivisions and the expansion of the McCollum Airport, illustrating the early stages of the Atlanta metropolitan area’s northward reach.
