Hopewell Culture National Historical Park anchors the southwestern corner of this Ross County landscape, preserving earthworks along the Scioto River near the community of Hopetown. The area is defined by a series of prominent peaks and ridgelines to the east, including Sugarloaf, Bald Hill, and Sand Hill, many of which are protected within Great Seal State Park. These elevations overlook a fertile valley floor segmented by the Kinnikinnick Creek and Blackwater Creek drainage systems.
