Rosebud Creek flows through the western edge of this Big Horn County landscape, where the small settlement of Kirby and the St Francis Ch serve as local landmarks. The northern portion of the quadrangle is defined by the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation Boundary, dividing the high plateau country. The terrain is deeply incised by a network of drainage features including Coal Bank Creek, Dry Creek, and several family-named coulees, such as Smith Coulee and Schoolhouse Coulee.

Resource extraction and early education leave their marks on the land, evidenced by a Mine located south of the reservation line and the Log Sch situated near Spring Creek.
