The Chicago Milwaukee St Paul and Pacific railroad bisects the valley, passing through Regal and Kittitas near Cameron Airfield. To the south, the terrain shifts abruptly from the flat, canal-fed farmlands of Edgemont to the steep, dissected slopes of Manastash Ridge. This topography created a distinct geographic boundary, with the Town Canal, Cascade Canal, and Wipple Wasteway defining the limits of cultivation.
