The Capitan Mountains rise sharply in the southern portion of this Lincoln County landscape, protected within the Capitan Mountains Wilderness and the broader Lincoln National Forest. This high-elevation terrain is defined by a series of dramatic drainages including Peachtree Canyon, East Lucero Canyon, and the eponymous Kyle Harrison Canyon. Water is a scarce and vital resource here, marked by several isolated sources like Kyle Harrison Spring, Millset Spring, and Seven Cabin Springs that support the local ecology and historical grazing patterns.
