The Gulf of Mexico shoreline in Bay County was captured by topographer Lee Morrison just as this section of the Florida coast began its mid-century transformation. During the war years, the coastal landscape remained largely undeveloped, dominated by the low-lying wetlands and sandy ridges that characterize the Florida Panhandle. The map highlights the early footprints of coastal settlements such as Laguna Beach and Gulf Resort Beach, which at this time consisted of sparse residential grids and light infrastructure clinging to the shoreline.
