The county line between Noble and Payne Counties divides this central Oklahoma landscape, where water management systems define the modern geography. The northern reaches of Lake Carl Blackwell and the expanse of Lake McMurtry dominate the southern and central sections, fed by a complex network of tributaries including North Stillwater Creek and Stillwater Creek. This drainage basin is supported by numerous upstream reservoirs, such as Stillwater Creek Site 41 Reservoir and Long Branch Site 3 Reservoir, which regulate the flow through this rural corridor.
