Dixie National Forest defines the high-country character of this landscape along the border of Iron and Garfield Counties. The terrain is a complex network of drainages and upland meadows, including Blue Meadows and the open Sandy Fields in the southeast. High points such as Little Creek Peak, Grouse Peak, and Showalter Mtn anchor the topography, overlooking deep-cut features like Ashton Canyon and Cottonwood Canyon.
