Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area dominates this landscape along the border of Carbon and Big Horn counties, where the Bighorn River feeds into the expansive Bighorn Lake. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes and deep incisions such as Big Bull Elk Canyon and Little Bull Elk Canyon. These geological features create a complex network of ridges and drainages, including the prominent Little Finger Ridge and Mid Ridge.
