The southern portion of Savanna State Frst dominates this landscape in Beseman Township, where the headwaters of the Prairie River meander through a series of significant water bodies. Most prominent is Little Prairie Lake, which sits in the northwestern quadrant of the quadrangle, while Roosevelt Lake lies to the southeast. The hydrology of the area is further defined by the East Savanna River, illustrating the complex drainage patterns characteristic of this part of Carlton County. Human infrastructure is limited to a sparse network of forest roads and regional thoroughfares, including County Hwy-826 and Basalm Forest Rd. This 2010 survey documents a largely undeveloped landscape of wetlands and state-managed timberland, capturing the precise alignment of rural routes like Rasmussen Rd and Graff Rd before subsequent changes in forest management or local development.
