Small agricultural and resource-based settlements like Lockettville and Clauene anchor the local road network, while the presence of a Cotton Gin near the center of the sheet highlights the dual economy of petroleum and cotton farming common to the Llano Estacado. The terrain is marked by numerous depressions and catchments, dotted with frequent Wells and an extensive Pipeline system cutting across the southern plains.
