The Meade River meanders across the western reaches of this North Slope landscape, carving a wide, braided path through the Arctic coastal plain. Flowing through township divisions t6n r21w and t5n r21w, the river's path is defined by low-gradient contours and numerous oxbow formations that reflect the shifting hydrology of the permafrost-underlain terrain. On the eastern side of the quadrangle, the Usuktuk River emerges, flowing northward through t5n r20w and t6n r20w. This 2015 survey illustrates a wilderness area entirely devoid of permanent structures, roads, or industrial development, documenting the raw natural state of the Alaskan tundra and its drainage patterns within the National Petroleum Reserve.
