The Milk River meanders across this northern Montana landscape, defining the hydrology of the Phillips County plains. Several water management and transport features characterize the drainage basin, notably the Dodson South Canal and prominent crossings such as the Assiniboine Creek Bridge and the Circle Diamond Coulee Bridge. The terrain is deeply etched by a network of ephemeral drainages, including Horse Camp Coulee, Cook Coulee, and Delaney Coulee, which flow toward the river valley.
