About this map

The coastal marshes and windswept flats of Calabazas Islands define this reach of the Texas shoreline. Located in a sparsely populated section of Kenedy County, the landscape is primarily dominated by the transition between the mainland and the Laguna Madre. Only a few unimproved paths, such as E Turcotte Rd and Gulf Wind Rd, provide access to this isolated coastal environment. The presence of the Tres Marias islands suggests a dynamic coastal shelf where land and water meet in a complex network of inlets and sandbars. This geography indicates an area largely preserved from modern development, remaining dedicated to the natural ebb and flow of the Gulf tide.
