The Chitina River flows through a landscape defined by massive protected territories, where the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Preserve meets the vast Wrangell-St. Elias Wilderness. This 2023 survey documents the intersection of several prominent Alaskan landforms, including the southern reaches of the Chugach Mountains and the northern extent of the Saint Elias Mountains. The terrain transitions from the river flats near Bryson Bar into high alpine reaches like the Granite Range. Numerous drainages such as Discovery Creek, Coffee Creek, and McCurdy Creek feed into the regional river systems. The southern portion of the sheet is dominated by the East Fork Kiagna River, illustrating the complex glacial and fluvial drainage patterns characteristic of the Copper River Census Area's wilderness regions.
