The terrain is dominated by the massive peaks and drainage basins within the Wrangell Saint Elias National Park and the Wrangell Saint Elias Wilderness. Evidence of small-scale backcountry activity appears along the riverbanks, notably at Jakes Bar, which features several cabins and the Jakes Bar Landing Strip providing essential air access to this remote interior.
