The Saint Elias Mountains dominate this high-altitude landscape within the Wrangell-St. Elias Wilderness. This corner of the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park is defined by its massive ice fields and the steep terrain of the Copper River Census Area. Significant glacial systems, including the Russell Glacier and Giffin Glacier, move through the drainages, while the Klutlan Glacier occupies the southeastern reaches. The peak of Mt Sulzer provides a prominent landmark in the north, shedding meltwater into the winding course of Moraine Creek. The map documents a landscape almost entirely shaped by current glaciation, showing the complex interplay between permanent ice and the sheer mountain faces that contain them at the height of the 2020s.
