Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park and the Wrangell-St. Elias Wilderness dominate this high-altitude landscape where the Wrangell Mountains meet the Saint Elias Mountains. The terrain is defined by the massive Chitistone Glacier and the headwaters of the Chitistone River, which flows south from the vicinity of Chitistone Pass. The Goat Trail Route Trl provides a documented path through the mountain passes, crossing through township sections in the University Range. This modern survey illustrates the current glacial boundaries and the preserved alpine environments of the eastern Alaskan interior, capturing a territory where the natural drainage of Upper Skolai Lake feeds into the complex river systems below the peaks.
