The town of Atlanta sits at the southwestern corner of this study, positioned near the intersection of several historic transit lines and the 3rd Principal Meridian. Moving northeast across the prairie, the corridor of Old Route 66 parallels the modern interstate, leading toward the settlement of McLean. This landscape is deeply rooted in local genealogy, featuring several burial grounds including Old Mount Hope Cem, McLean-Mount Hope Cem, and Roach Cem. Agricultural operations are supported by the Farm Aerial Service Incorporated Airport, while the natural drainage of the region is defined by Sugar Cr, Timber Cr, and Clear Cr. The map preserves the grid of rural township roads such as N 100 E Rd and E 550 N Rd that have long organized this central Illinois farming community.
