Graveyard Creek and the surrounding drainage basins of Rosebud County define this landscape as it appeared in the early 21st century. The terrain is characterized by a network of intermittent watercourses, including North Miller Creek and South Miller Creek, which carve through the high plains of eastern Montana. One of the few prominent landmarks in this relatively open expanse is Baldy Butte, a geographic anchor for the region.
