About this map

Bernardo Segui Grant and Domingo Acosta Grant define the land tenure patterns along the western shore of the Indian River, preserving the geometry of early Spanish land grants. The citrus-growing corridor around Mims and East Mims is shown at a mid-century transitional moment, where traditional citrus groves and small settlements like Wiley and Jay Jay meet the encroaching infrastructure of the space age. To the east, across the lagoon, the map documents the western fringes of the John F Kennedy Space Center (Nasa), including the U S Government RR cutting through the marshlands.
