The arid drainage of Miry Wash cuts through a remote stretch of the Great Salt Lake Desert, where the terrain is dominated by expansive deposits of Mud. Surveyed in the early 1990s, the landscape reveals the geological isolation of northwestern Utah, framed by the stark elevations of the Silver Island Mts and the Little Pigeon Mts. To the southwest, Crater Island rises above the basin floor as a distinct landform amid the surrounding flats.
