Buffalo Plateau and the surrounding high country of the Teton National Forest dominate this 1960s survey of the Wyoming backcountry. The landscape is defined by its drainage systems and primitive transport routes, including the Trunk Trail and Bacon Ridge Trail, which follow the natural contours of the Bacon Ridge and Pinon Ridge heights. The presence of the Kinky Creek Divide Airstrip in the southwest corner near Kinky Creek indicates the importance of aerial access in managing these remote forest lands.
