Guanella Pass serves as the central high-altitude corridor of this landscape, dividing the waters of South Clear Creek and Geneva Creek. The terrain is defined by the massive peaks of the Front Range, where Mt Blue Sky and Mt Bierstadt tower over alpine basins containing Frozen Lake and the Chicago Lakes. These glacial features, along with Abyss Lake, represent the headwaters of numerous drainages that flow through the Arapaho National Forest and Pike National Forest. Evidence of late 20th and early 21st-century conservation efforts is clear, as large portions of the map are preserved within the Mount Evans Wilderness. At lower elevations, the small settlement of Geneva Park and the winding Scott Gomer Creek provide a contrast to the rock and ice of Summit Lake Flats and Mt Warren to the northeast.
