The rolling landscape of northern Cherokee County unfolds around Mount Selman, a historic railroad-era community situated along the main corridor between Bullard and Jacksonville. This area is particularly dense with genealogical sites, preserving small family and community burial grounds such as Killough Cem, Larissa Cem, and Tarrant Cem. The terrain is defined by a network of small drainages including Killough Cr, Blue Br, and Wallace Br, which carve through the elevations near Snow Mtn. Local landmarks like Tarrant Field and Hunter Field indicate the ongoing agricultural and private aviation history of the region. Towards the southern edge of the survey, the rural character transitions into the outskirts of Jacksonville at Pomona, where the landscape is dotted with smaller water bodies like Hollywood Lake and the branching headwaters of E Gum Cr and W Gum Cr.
