
Pine Creek Tungsten Mill and several high-altitude mining operations define the industrial character of this high Sierra landscape. Accessed via 4WD tracks and a tramway, these sites including the Brownstone Mine and Tungstar Mine operated amidst the peaks of the John Muir Wilderness. The topography is dominated by massive peaks like Mount Tom and Basin Mountain, which give way to the sprawling Humphreys Basin in the southwest.
