Mount Washington and the surrounding high country of the Manzanita Mountains define this landscape south of Albuquerque, where military operations and national forest lands meet. The eastern half of the map is dominated by the steep, canyon-cut terrain of the Cibola National Forest, featuring prominent heights such as Sol se Mete Peak and the deep recesses of Madera Canyon and Lurance Canyon. To the west, the topography transitions into the restricted grounds of Kirtland AFB, a landscape marked by the seasonal drainage of Arroyo del Coyote and Hells Canyon Wash.
