Cibola National Forest defines the eastern high ground of this landscape, where the Manzanita Mountains meet the northern edge of the Manzano Mountains. At the center of this transition, Mt Washington and Sol se Mete Peak overlook a complex system of drainage canyons, including North Canyon and Lurance Canyon. The western portion of the map transitions into the restricted lands of Kirtland Air Force Base, marked by the presence of Mortar Range Rd SE.
