USGS Topo · Published 1965

About this map

Mt Jefferson Primitive Area dominates this high-altitude landscape, centered on the towering volcanic peaks and glacial headwaters of the Cascade Range. Surveyed in the late 1920s, the map documents a wilderness managed through an extensive network of remote stations, including the Trout Lake Ranger Sta, Lemiti Ranger Sta, and Old Mill Ranger Sta. These outposts supported the early forest service infrastructure that predated modern road access into the deep backcountry of the Mount Hood National Forest and Santiam National Forest.
