Cape Krusenstern National Monument occupies the central portion of this Arctic landscape, representing a protected expanse of coastal tundra and ancient shorelines in the Northwest Arctic Borough. The terrain is defined by low-lying drainages and isolated elevations, such as Asiglirangik Hill in the southwest. Water moves through the region via the meandering Omikviorok River and the smaller Imikruk Cr to the north. A significant industrial corridor is visible in the eastern half of the map, where the Red Dog Mine Road cuts through the landscape. This road serves as a vital transportation link for one of the world's largest zinc and lead mines, connecting the inland mineral deposits to port facilities on the coast. The absence of traditional settlements emphasizes the industrial and conservation-focused character of this specific corner of Alaska.
