Bethany sits directly on the border between Texas and Louisiana, where the boundary between Panola County and Caddo Parish is defined by the Bethany-State Line Rd. This modern survey illustrates how political boundaries slice through local geography, with State Line Cem located just west of the line. The landscape is dominated by the complex drainage of Socagee Cr, including its East and West forks, which create a wide, low-lying basin to the south of the Panola settlement. To the east, the terrain shifts toward Boggy Bayou and Mill Cr. Family and local history are anchored by sites such as Jernigan Cem and Ivory Cem, while numerous rural routes and Oilwell Rd indicate the region's continued reliance on resource extraction and ranching infrastructure.
