Pearsonia and Blackland anchor this part of the Osage Hills, where the landscape is defined by the complex branching of the Bird Creek drainage system. The drainage pattern is exceptionally detailed, showing the convergence of N Bird Cr, W Bird Cr, and Middle Bird Cr into the main artery of Bird Creek near the settlement of Myers. This network of seasonal and perennial streams has long influenced the placement of rural homesteads and the winding paths of county roads like Co RD 4201 and Co RD 4650.
