Talladega National Forest encompasses the majority of this landscape in eastern Alabama, where the highlands of Dugger Mtn and Rattlesnake Mtn dominate the topography. Small pockets of private settlement remain visible along the borders of the federal land, including the community of Edwardsville and smaller locales like Grantley and Liberty Hill. Family history is preserved in several burial grounds such as Grimes Cem, Stead Cem, and Dunn Cem, which are scattered among the ridges and valleys.
