About this map

Sisi Lookout Tower stands as a prominent sentinel atop Sisi Butte in this high-elevation survey of the Oregon Cascades. The landscape is defined by the sharp topographic relief of the Pinhead Buttes and the jurisdictional meeting point of the Mt Hood National Forest and the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. The mapping records a transition zone where the headwaters of the Clackamas River and its various tributaries, such as Lemiti Creek and Pinhead Creek, carve through the terrain. Evidence of high-altitude resource management and recreation is visible through the presence of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail and the isolated Warm Springs Cabin. This area, where Clackamas, Wasco, and Marion counties converge, is characterized by its numerous alpine meadows and springs, including Trapper Spring Meadow and Bear Skull Spring.
