During the mid-20th century, the Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines and the Cumberland & Maurice River Railroad provided critical infrastructure for the movement of goods and people between settlements like Port Elizabeth and Mauricetown.

Resource extraction is evident through numerous Gravel Pits and Sand and Gravel Pits dotting the terrain, while the eastern reaches are dominated by the Belleplain State Forest. Smaller, perhaps vanished, hamlets such as Bricksboro and Ormond appear alongside essential community landmarks like the Leesburg Sch and various local Ch and Cem sites. The mapping of a Cranberry Bog near the Upper boundary points to the specialized wetland agriculture of the Pine Barrens fringe.
