About this map

Post serves as the primary hub on this West Texas landscape, positioned where the High Plains drop away toward the rolling breaklands. In the late 1960s, the town's footprint included the City-County Airport, a Landing Strip, and the Terrace Cem situated just north of the residential center. The industrial character of Garza County is clearly etched into the terrain by an extensive Oil Field and a crisscrossing network of Pipeline corridors. Transport is dominated by the diagonal path of the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe railroad, which parallels the highway through the ranchlands. Water management is a defining feature of the local economy, evidenced by numerous livestock watering points such as McNab Tank, Stink Creek Tank, and Crawfish Tank. To the north, the North Fork Double Mountain Fork Brazos River carves a deep valley, joined by tributaries like Rattlesnake Creek and Sand Creek.
