The Chickasawhay River flows through the southern half of this Clarke County region, anchoring the settlement of Quitman. As the county seat, the town shows a developed street grid and several sites of genealogical interest, including the prominent Quitman Cem and the Confederate Cem further south. The landscape is defined by the convergence of several waterways, notably Archusa Cr and Cedar Cr, which feed into the main river system.
