Indian Dan State Wildlife Recreation Area dominates the southwestern corner of this Okanogan County landscape, where the terrain transitions from the high peaks of Dent Mtn to the prominent ridges of Harmony Heights. The drainage network is defined by a series of small, isolated bodies of water including Rat Lake, Rowel Lake, and Starzman Lake, which are connected by ephemeral flows through Whitestone Canyon and Hooker Creek. Human presence in this high-desert environment is sparse, indicated by a lone Cem and a Radio Facility near Bald Knob. The mapping reveals a complex vertical landscape of gulches and canyons, such as Davis Canyon and Swamp Creek, where scattered springs and wells provided critical water sources for the cattle ranching and wildlife management that characterized this region in the late 1980s.
