Otsego Lake and the northern reaches of the Susquehanna headwaters anchor this 1903 edition survey, which illustrates a landscape of established dairy farms and early tourism. At the southern end of the sheet, a Steamboat Route traverses the length of the lake toward Hyde Bay, while to the west, the resort village of Richfield Springs is served by the D. L. & W. R. R. and overlooks Canadarago Lake.

The map reveals the dense settlement patterns of the Otsego and Herkimer county border, where small hamlets like Jordanville, Vanhornesville, and Cherry Valley are connected by a web of rural roads. Numerous small bodies of water, including Weaver Lake and Youngs Lake, are concentrated in the central plateau. The topography is defined by prominent peaks such as Wellington Mt. and Waiontha Mt., rising above the valleys of Shadow Brook and Otsquago Creek, which drained the agricultural uplands at the turn of the century.
