The Shawnee National Forest dominates the southern half of this landscape, where the elevation rises into the Eagle Mountains. This rugged topography is defined by numerous deep hollows, including Hargrave Hollow, Blue Spring Hollow, and Stillhouse Hollow, which cut through the ridges towards the Saline River basin. The northern portion of the quadrangle transitions into a flatter agricultural and riverine environment, where the Middle Fork Saline River and South Fork Saline River converge.
